Crown Removers & Placement
What are crown removers & placement?
A small mixed group covering two jobs in fixed and restorative work: removing a crown, and placing a liner under a restoration. Liner applicators carry a fine ball or paddle end sized to deliver calcium hydroxide or a similar base precisely to the deepest part of a preparation, where a normal instrument would place far more material than the site needs.
How the crown removers & placement range is organised
- Crown removal:
- Crown remover set.
- Liner and base placement:
- Dycal applicator, PICH calcium hydroxide placement instrument.
Choosing the right crown removers & placement
When removing a crown, direction of force is what protects the abutment — pull along the path of withdrawal rather than off-axis. For liner placement, a fine applicator end is worth having: excess base material under a restoration reduces the bulk available for the restorative material itself.
