What are articulating products?
Articulating forceps hold paper, ribbon or shim film flat against the occlusal surfaces while the patient closes, so contact marks transfer cleanly. A holder that lets the paper wrinkle produces false marks, which is the practical reason a dedicated instrument beats fingers or cotton pliers.
How the articulating products range is organised
- Straight:
- Articulating paper forceps straight 6".
- Curved:
- Articulating paper forceps curved 6".
- Grooved tips:
- Grooved-tip pattern for a more secure hold on the paper.
Choosing the right articulating product
Curved tips reach posterior segments while keeping the handle clear of the cheek; straight is easier to present squarely on anteriors. Grooved tips grip the paper so it does not pull free as the patient closes. Check occlusion in centric first, then in lateral and protrusive excursions, using a different colour for each so the marks can be told apart.
