Wire Bending Pliers

What are wire bending pliers?

Wire bending pliers form archwire and auxiliary wire to shape. Beak geometry determines the bend: a round beak opposed to a flat or pyramidal beak produces a curve on the round side and a defined angle on the flat side, which is the principle behind the bird beak. Three-prong pliers place a controlled bend between two fixed points, and are the standard tool for adjusting clasps.

How the wire bending pliers range is organised

Bird beak:
Bird beak wire bending, light wire bird beak, light wire bird beak with groove, bird beak angle with tungsten carbide inserts.
Arch forming:
Arch bending, Elite arch bending, lingual arch forming, Elite lingual arch forming, angle wire bending.
Loop and detail bending:
Tweed, Jarabak with grooves, orthodontic round nose #107, Peeso.
Three prong:
NiTi three jaw, NiTi three prong — for clasp adjustment and controlled bends.
Combination:
Wire bending and cutting universal, orthodontic lab and office plier.

Choosing the right wire bending plier

Bird beak pliers are the general-purpose first purchase — round and flat beaks cover loops, curves and angles in one instrument. Tweed and Jarabak are for loop forming specifically, where a defined, repeatable loop dimension matters. Match the plier to the wire: light-wire patterns are for smaller round wire and will be sprung by heavy rectangular archwire. Tungsten carbide inserts hold their grip on hard wire far longer than plain steel beaks.
