Band Removing & Crimping Pliers

What are band removing & crimping pliers?

Pliers for taking appliances off and for adapting crown margins. Band removers place a cushioned tip on the occlusal surface and a hooked beak under the band margin, so the removing force lifts the band rather than loading the tooth. Bracket removers shear the bracket base from the adhesive. Crimping pliers adapt the margin of a preformed crown to the tooth.

How the band removing & crimping pliers range is organised

Band removing:
Oliver #347, Baade band and shell removing, Robinson collar #120.
Bracket removing:
Bracket remover plier, Elite bracket remover, Elite angulated bracket remover, Oliver adhesive removing.
Crown and crimping:
421S primary crown crimping, Howard crown pliers, crimper cutter.

Choosing the right band removing & crimping plier

Angulated bracket removers reach posterior brackets that a straight plier approaches at the wrong angle. Replace the cushion tips on band removers when they wear — a hard tip transmits removal force directly to enamel. Primary crown crimping pliers (#421S) are sized for paediatric preformed crowns and are not a substitute for adult crown contouring pliers.
